We recommend at least 1 hour for a comfortable connection at Xianyang. The minimum connection time is 60 minutes for domestic flights and 130 minutes for international flights. Transit between terminals takes up to 30 minutes.

Xianyang Airport is primarily a domestic hub with a growing but still modest international network, so connections are generally straightforward for domestic-to-domestic itineraries but can be slower for anything involving international transfer. The 2022-opened Terminal 5 added significant capacity but split operations across terminals, meaning many connections require an inter-terminal transfer via bus or the automated walkway system. Terminal 3 and Terminal 5 are linked by an elevated automated walkway and shuttle buses that take roughly 10-15 minutes door to door, while Terminal 2 (older, now handling fewer flights) requires a longer bus transfer of 20-30 minutes. Domestic connections within the same terminal avoid re-screening if staying airside, but cross-terminal transfers and any international arrival require passengers to pass back through security and often immigration/customs before rejoining the departure area.
