Viracopos is Azul Linhas Aéreas' primary hub and Brazil's main airfreight gateway, but for passengers it's a single, compact terminal that makes domestic-to-domestic connections straightforward. International connections are harder because arriving passengers must clear immigration and customs before reaching the domestic transfer area, adding real time even though the physical distances are short. Viracopos has one passenger terminal, so all connections are made on foot along a single concourse with no shuttles or trains required. Purely domestic-to-domestic transfers stay airside and re-screen only at the gate area, while any itinerary touching an international flight requires exiting through Federal Police immigration and Receita Federal customs before re-entering security to reach the domestic gates.
