Taipei Taoyuan (TPE) is a well-organized hub built around two terminals linked by an airside people-mover, making most international-to-international transfers quick and re-screening-free. The main complication is that Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 host different airline alliances, so transfers sometimes require a terminal change even within the same alliance's partners, and immigration re-entry is needed for any itinerary touching Taiwan domestically. An airside automated people mover called the Skytrain links Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 for transit passengers in about 5-8 minutes of ride time, with total walking and transfer time up to 20 minutes for gate-to-gate movement. Passengers connecting between two international flights generally do not need to re-clear immigration and pass through a transfer security checkpoint instead; those connecting to or from a domestic Taiwan flight must exit through immigration and re-enter via standard security.
