Ben Gurion funnels almost all connecting traffic through Terminal 3, a single large terminal with three interconnected concourses, which keeps most transfers geographically simple. What makes TLV genuinely hard is Israel's layered security system — every passenger, including transiting ones, typically undergoes profiling questions and rescreening, which adds unpredictable time that has nothing to do with walking distance. Within Terminal 3, the B and C gate concourses are linked to the main terminal by an internal automated train (sky-train) and moving walkways, a ride of about 5-10 minutes plus walking. Passengers connecting to or from Terminal 1 (used by some low-cost and charter carriers) must take a shuttle bus between terminals, adding 15-20 minutes. Security rescreening is common for international-to-international transfers since Israel does not operate a universal 'sterile transit' system the way many EU hubs do.
