Montego Bay's Sangster International is built almost entirely for origin-and-destination leisure travelers arriving at Caribbean resorts, not for connections, so genuine airline-sold connections here are uncommon. The airport is compact and easy to walk, but nearly every arriving international passenger must clear Jamaican immigration and customs before continuing anywhere — even onward to another flight — which is the main obstacle to a fast connection. MBJ is a single-level, single-terminal building, so the physical walk between arrival gates, immigration, baggage claim, customs, and departure gates rarely takes more than 10-12 minutes. There is no train or shuttle because the terminal is small, but the process of clearing immigration and customs — required of nearly all arriving international passengers regardless of final destination — adds significant time beyond the walking distance itself.
