Phuket International is a single-terminal airport split into domestic and international wings, built primarily for leisure travelers rather than transit passengers. Connections are manageable but not seamless, since crossing between domestic and international zones requires re-clearing immigration, customs, or security depending on direction. It's not a true hub, so most 'connections' here are self-transfers between separately ticketed flights rather than smooth single-ticket itineraries. The international and domestic sections are physically connected within the same terminal complex via a landside walkway, so there is no shuttle or train required. However, passengers moving from international arrivals to a domestic departure must clear Thai immigration and customs first, and those moving from domestic to international must check in and pass through security and immigration again, which adds significant time beyond the physical walk.
