Noi Bai splits domestic and international flights into two separate terminal buildings connected only by a shuttle bus, so connections require exiting security, a bus ride, and re-clearing security on the other side. It's a workable but not fast hub, and international-to-international transfers in particular eat up more time than the airport's compact size might suggest. A free shuttle bus links Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, with the ride itself taking about 10-15 minutes depending on traffic and curb congestion outside. Because the terminals are landside-connected rather than through a sterile corridor, all passengers must clear security screening again upon entering either terminal, and immigration/customs applies when arriving from or departing to international destinations.
