Domodedovo is a single integrated terminal complex, which makes connections relatively straightforward compared to multi-terminal airports, but Moscow's overall congestion and Russia's border/customs procedures for international transfers can add friction. Domestic-to-domestic connections are the smoothest, while any leg touching an international flight requires passport control and often a walk between distinct zones within the same building. DME operates as one continuous terminal building divided into domestic and international zones, connected by long indoor corridors and moving walkways, so there is no train or airside bus between terminals in normal cases. Passengers connecting between international and domestic flights must clear passport control and, in many cases, a fresh security screening, while some remote international stands require an apron shuttle bus adding extra time.
