Julius Nyerere International Airport is a modest single-hub airport where connections are generally straightforward but rely on manual processes rather than automated transfer systems. Domestic and international flights are split between Terminal 2 and Terminal 3, so passengers often need to move between buildings, adding time and unpredictability. It works best for connections of an hour or more, especially with regional carriers like Air Tanzania. Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 are connected by a short shuttle bus ride or a longer walk along the perimeter road, as there is no covered walkway. Passengers connecting between international arrivals and domestic departures must exit and re-clear security and, in many cases, immigration, adding significant time versus a same-terminal connection.
