El Dorado is Avianca's primary hub and the busiest airport in Colombia, funneling most connections through a single consolidated terminal. Domestic-to-domestic connections are relatively straightforward, but any itinerary touching international arrivals means clearing Colombian immigration and customs first, which can eat up significant time. El Dorado operates as one main terminal with domestic and international piers connected by a long airside walking corridor; there is no train or shuttle required. International arrivals must pass through immigration and customs before reaching the domestic side, which functions as a full re-entry into the country rather than a simple walk-through, and there is no sterile international-to-international transit corridor for most passengers.
