Antalya is fundamentally a leisure and charter gateway rather than a designed transfer hub, so connections require landside transfers between separate terminal buildings. Passengers switching between the two international terminals or the domestic terminal must exit security, take a shuttle, and re-clear screening, which eats up time fast. Genuine tight connections are uncommon here since most itineraries are point-to-point holiday flights. Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and the Domestic Terminal are physically separate buildings linked by free shuttle buses that run every 10-15 minutes, with a walk of several minutes to reach the shuttle stop at each end. Because there is no airside connector, every terminal-to-terminal transfer means exiting through arrivals, boarding the shuttle, and going through full security screening again before reaching the next departure area. This landside routing is the main reason connection times at AYT run longer than at purpose-built hub airports.
